SSB PowerSport Lithium Ion Phosphate Batteries (also known as Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries) are an extremely light weight battery designed for starting applications and are a completely dry battery making them spill-proof and leak-proof. You have to pick one up for yourself to truly understand how light they actually are compared to normal lead acid batteries. They are truly amazing.

A normal lead acid motorcycle battery is designed to last for 200 – 300 cycles, whereas SSB PowerSport Lithium Batteries are designed to last for over 2,000 cycles (more than 10 Years design life). In addition, they can sit unused for over a year without losing charge and can also be charged extremely quickly without damaging the battery.

Unlike many other lithium batteries, SSB PowerSport Lithium Batteries are made using prismatic cells making them not only safe to use, but also boasts higher CCA (cold cranking amps), better cyclic properties and have a longer life. We are aware of only one other brand of lithium starting battery that uses prismatic cells. Other brands generally use cylindrical cells and while they may be a little cheaper due to lower manufacturing costs, they are inferior and are not designed for starting vehicles.

While there may be other brands using similar battery cases (even similar colours), be assured that if it doesn’t have the SSB PowerSport logo, it does not offer the same capacity as our lithium batteries.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT SIZE LITHIUM BATTERY:

SSB PowerSport Lithium Batteries are designed as a drop-in direct replacement for lead-acid motorcycles batteries. This means that if the vehicle normally uses a particular size in the lead acid type, the customer should choose the corresponding lithium size that has been designed to replace that lead-acid size. Because of its extremely high CCA some customers make the mistake of using the lithium batteries to replace much larger lead acid types. Please note that these are motorcycle batteries and they are not designed for use in cars or to replace much larger lead-acid batteries.

MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Do not use Chargers with Automatic Rejuvenation or Desulphation Mode
If the vehicle is in storage or used infrequently, disconnect the battery cable. This eliminates the battery draining from the electrical equipment. Or measure the battery voltage and if it is lower than 12.4 Volts, do a refresh charge. If the battery is unused for any period of time, check the voltage and if lower than 12.4 Volts, recharge as described on the charging label. Do not exceed 14.6 Volts when charging.

Keep the connecting terminals clean and securely fastened.

The battery is a dry battery and factory sealed. It does not require topping up of any fluid. Never attempt to open the battery.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

Electrolyte inside the battery is harmful to skin and eyes. If the battery leaks and electrolyte gets in your eyes, do not rub them. Instead, rinse them with clean running water and immediately seek medical attention. If left untreated, electrolyte can cause permanent eye injury.
